At Roofing Matters, we specialise in reroofing, i.e repairing, restoring and replacing damaged roofs, in Northern NSW. We work for insurance companies, building companies, individuals and businesses.
We use our own re-roofing scaffold, a special freestanding system that is unique in our district.

Metal reroofing jobs are our specialty. Whether your existing metal roof has been extensively damaged by hail, or it's old and corroded and you simply need a new roof, Roofing Matters will carry out a professional and thorough metal roof replacement. Tile to metal roof conversions
If you currently have a tiled roof but prefer to have a metal roof, such as a good quality Colorbond roof, we can help. Metal roofs are stronger and last longer than roof tiles. One of our specialties is converting tile roofs to metal. Tile roofs will always leak, which is why a metal roof is a better choice. Metal roofs generally don't leak, even in a hail storm. You can choose from a wide range of metal roof materials and colours to create that modern look for your home.

Hole in your roof? Found a little rust somewhere? Or is water coming in somehow during heavy rain? We can repair your roof by replacing the damaged part with a new metal roof sheet, or reinstall or repair the roof flashing if that wasn't installled correctly and your roof isn't waterproof. Note: You should be aware that if you have a leaking rusty roof and that leak causes internal water damage to your property, your insurance company may void your claim. We have seen properties with hail damage whose owners have had their insurance claim denied due to the poor condition of the roof. Your rusty leaking roof is a maintenance problem and not a storm-related issue. It is your responsibility to keep your property including your roof in a well maintained condition. Roof tile repairs
Most leaking roofs tend to be tiled roofs. One of our roofing team members is specially trained and skilled in roof tile repairs. So if you have broken, cracked or loose tiles, ridge cappings, pointings or hip cappings (external corner of your tile roof), and a leaking roof as a result, get in touch with us. We will assess your roof and carry out the necessary repairs, such as replacing tiles, fixing the cement bedding and repointing capping tiles.
Note: It is very common for tile roofs to leak during heavy rain especially when there is strong wind, which blows the rain under the tiles into the cavity between the roof sarking (foil faced vapour barrier under roof tiles). If the sarking is old and torn, your roof is likely to leak badly and cause internal damage. The only way to fix this is to replace the complete roof including roof battens and sarking. You may however experience the same problem again many years later.
Another common problem with roof tiles is that when they age they oxidise and lose their colour. The tiles then become porous and become like a sponge, holding water when it rains. Your roof can be restored as long as the roof sarking is intact and in good condition. Generally any broken tiles are replaced, the ridge and hip cappings are repointed, then the roof is washed down and painted to a colour of your choice. Warning: There are operators that pass through towns offering cheap roof repair jobs. We have seen many poorly restored tiled roofs as well as metal roofs, so we stress the importance of choosing a reputable company and look at some of their work first before hiring a roof repairer.

Insulation
If your home is hot in summer and cold in winter, consider insulating your home. We use fibreglass roof blanket by CSR Bradford Insulation as well as ceiling batts. If you're considering replacing your roof, it's the perfect time to have your roof insulated. We can fit ceiling batts at the same time, which provide you with a greater thermal efficiency and will help you cut your energy bills. If you have allergies and prefer a fibrefree insulation alternative, we also use a product called Aircell. Also check out the current Australian government rebate of up to $1,600 to have your roof insulated.
